I thought it would be a good idea to get inspiration from like minded people. I joined the club having visited a few times, and was really pleased to find a friendly supportive membership that are happy to share their knowledge and expertise. This along with excellent lectures, demonstrations and practical nights have really impacted my photography for the better.

I recently joined BPS and was welcomed immediately. There is a fantastic range of speakers and regular competitions; these are organised into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced groups – something I appreciate as I am new to processing and taking more than holiday pictures. It is good to get feedback on how to improve on my own work and to see the images from the higher groups, which inspire me to develop my skills and the range of my images further.

I felt quite nervous when I joined four years ago but everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
I was encouraged to “have a go” and enter the competitions. People were willing to share their expertise in not only the taking of photographs but the use of processing software ware to edit them.
I was familiar with the phrase “the camera never lies” but I learned very quickly that the opposite is true!
Being something of a technophobe I am very grateful for the patience of people who have been kind enough to help me.
