14th Social /welcome night

 

21st Macro Photography Stuart Wood

Stuart Wood is a photographer from Cannock who started photography taking images of planets, but found his real interest is in macro photography, and particularly BPS Season 2023-24 in living creatures. Stuart’s talk will show us how to get deep into the fine detail of the lives of such lifeforms- expect spiders!- and small plants

5th An Evening with Bob and Sue Moore

In this return visit, MCPF stalwart Bob Moore and his wife Sue will present a selection of prints drawn from their decades of experience of photographing a wide range of subjects in many different places. High in the selection criteria will be ’…. whatever we fancy at the time…‘

12th River Source to Sea Jack Perks

Jack Perks is a photographer, film maker and author specialising in the natural world. Rivers are his favourite habitat, and in this talk Jack plans an evening of photography, biology and humour, drawing on watercourses such as highland burns, Hampshire chalk streams and large Midland rivers like the Severn and Trent.

26th Art for the Untalented Colin Lusby

Colin is an experienced club photographer from north east Lincolnshire. His enigmatic title describes ‘…. a light-hearted lecture using A3 prints in colour and mono on subjects including landscapes of all types, infra red, creative work and anything else that takes my fancy….’. Audience participation is welcomed!

2nd From Pursuit to Passion to Profession Ashley Franklin

Derbyshire based Ashley, writer, film maker and photographer, was inspired to take up photography by the surroundings of his home in the Derwent Valley. This widely praised talk charts the early half of that journey where a student with a hobby moved through the camera club world where the hobby became a passion, and eventually a career.

9th An Evening with Mike and Rosemary Mutimer

This season we plan to celebrate within our programme the skills and experience of several of the fine photographers among our own members. Mike and Rosemary are among the club’s longest-serving members, and will present a selection of their prints and share some reflections of these years.

Sat 11th and Sun 12th Member's Annual Exhibition. Including Open Competition.

16th Infra Red Photography Mike Atkinson

Mike is an able and experienced camera club photographer from Lancaster, and has occupied almost all the senior positions in the long- established Lancaster Photographic Society. Mike has developed something of a specialism in infra-red work. His talk will be illustrated with a range of prints and digital images showing his favourite infra-red subjects, particularly landscapes, and he will discuss the various technical and other issues that arise.

It used to be said that digital photography could not produce as good results in black and white as printing from film. In this welcome return visit, professional photographer Nat Coalson will deploy his particular presentational skills to illustrate how to get the very best from digital black and white images

25th Derbyshire in Digital Robert Falconer

Life-long photographic enthusiast Robert Falconer‘s first digital lecture focussed on his home county of Derbyshire. Recently updated, the presentation shows the county at its best in all four seasons, from snow to mists and autumn tints. The Peak District landscape, Derbyshire wildlife, and some other favourites including steam trains and aircraft are all included

22th AV Night Phil Nixon

Our own Phil Nixon will open up the possibilities of setting photographic presentations to music, and will look at the different types of AV presentation, subjects, story-telling, and crucially, how to do it

29th Easy Wildlife Steven Fairbrother

In this presentation, Steven sets out to prove that you don’t have to be a wildlife expert to achieve great wildlife pictures. In locations from his back garden to uninhabited islands he shows us how, with basic skills, successful photographs of a wide array of species can be achieved

John lives and works in a former coal mining area of Yorkshire, and has a special interest in the changes that have occurred in the traditional industries of northern cities and their effect on local people. John’s street photography captures detailed characterful images of many of those people

4th A Sporting Chance Vin Scothern

Vin’s talk on sports photography occupies half the evening, and aims to show that you don’t necessarily need long expensive lenses or media passes to get good sporting images. This evening’s images were taken from the spectator side of the fence with one camera body and a standard zoom lens of 70-200mm f2.8. The second part of the talk comprises landscapes, people and wildlife images. An evening with something for everyone.

18th The Wider World of Photography Ashley Franklin

In his second visit of the season, Ashley explores the wide scope of photography beyond the usual scope of the camera club. In a highly praised presentation he looks at the history, development, style and impact of portrait, fashion, industrial, war and social documentary photography. These are illustrated with the work of some of the finest photographers of their era

25th Urban Landscape- Birm’ham Verity Milligan

Verity grew up in the former steel town of Corby, and has always been intrigued by Industrial landscape. This is reflected in her work depicting the ever-evolving cityscapes of the UK, especially Birmingham, which is central to tonight’s presentation
